Happy Pride Month Eleanor Roosevelt was queer, the Little Mermaid is a gay love story, James Dean liked men, Emily Dickinson was a lesbian, Nikola Tesla was asexual, Freddie Mercury was bisexual & British Indian, and black trans women pioneered the gay rights movement.
Florence Nightingale was a lesbian, Leonardo da Vinci was gay, Michelangelo too, Jane Austen liked women, Hatshepsut was not cisgender, and Alexander the Great was a power bottom

Honestly just reblogging for that last one
Probably not historically backed but fuck yes
Eleanor Roosevelt wrote love letters to Lorena Hickok
Several people who knew James Dean have talked about his relationships with men
Letters and poems allude to a romance between Emily Dickinson and at least two women
Freddie Mercury is well known for his attraction to men but was also linked to several women, including Barbara Valentin whom he lived with shortly before he died. Friends have talked about being invited into their bed and walking in on them having sex (documentary Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender)
Leonardo da Vinci never married or fathered children, was once brought up on sodomy charges, and a sketch in one of his notebooks is 2 penises walking toward a hole labeled with the nickname of his apprentice
Condivi said that Michelangelo often spoke exclusively of masculine love
Jane Austin never married and wrote about sharing a bed with women (Jane Austen At Home: A Biography by Lucy Worsley)
“Alexander was only defeated once…and that was by Hephaestion’s thighs.” is a 2,000 year old quote
I want to hire you to follow me around and defend my honor with meticulous research

Back in May, the romance writing community was rocked by a scandal after author Faleena Hopkins started enforcing a trademark over the common word “COCKY” in the titles of romance novels; I predicted then that there would be some sociopaths who would observe the controversy and decide that it was an inspiration, rather than a warning, and start trying to use trademark to steal other words from writers and their titles.
IT HAS BEGUN.
An entity called “MSE Media LLC,” registered to a private residence in Austin, Texas and listing the email address of Austin IP lawyer Tim D. Chheda as a contact email has filed an application to trademark “DRAGON SLAYER” in connection with fantasy novels.
The application lists a series of self-described “pulp harem fantasies” by Michael-Scott Earle, published by MSE Media LLC, as evidence of the mark’s use in connection with a “Downloadable series of fiction books,” Class 009.
Amazon lists 652 books whose titles include the phrase “Dragon Slayer” – and that’s to say nothing of the long-out-of-print Runescape titles.
Of course, none of the dozens (hundreds?) of authors who have used “Dragon Slayer” in a title have sought a trademark, because the term is generic and not trademarkable.
If the mark passes the US Patent and Trademark Office’s initial examination (a notoriously lax process), the other authors who’ve used this term can file an objection to keep this common term from being stolen by a single writer.

Kada! quick question, when doing pixel art what canvas size would you recommend? I assume it's gotta be tinyyy, but I'm not sure!
Technically, any size you want! Im not a pro by any means when it comes to pixel art, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
This is some way old test stuff, but when youre working with pixels I find it best to have a huge canvas so you have a lot of space and breathing room to sort out your ideas!

With games in mind – I looked this up some time ago, and common resolutions for pixel art games with the pixels scaled 2:1 at 1080p would be 960x540 px, scaled 3:1 640x360 px, and 4:1 480x240 px. For example, that half-finished Executioners thing I made was at 640x360, so if it was blown up to 1080p the sprites would look 3 times as large

For character sprites themselves, it’s highly dependent on your tile size (this is again, going by game design stuff). tile sets or pixel art assets usually fall into 16 x 16, 32 x 32, or 64 x 64 squares, depending on what you’re doing. Sprites usually fall around the same scale their world is –

(from shovel knight, drawn to life, deadbolt, pokemon, and duelyst, respectively). You can see a lot of them fall around the 32 px area, with adjustments for details that poke out.
HOWEVER, if you’re not constraining yourself to smaller proportions, there’s really no right or wrong size! For example, way back I was working on rogues gallery sprites, and they turned out rather large!

two of my major sources of inspiration for bigger work like this are professionalmanlyguy69 (who then went by bigjerkart, and then deleted all of their gosh dang blogs as far as I know. If you google image those two names you’ll see their work tho ((I hope they come back I love their stuff)) ) and syosa (pixel joint and blog) Both of those artists have very different but very slick styles.
Pretty much anon, it comes down to your personal preference! If all else fails, you could try a downsizing exercise – syosa gives a good example of it here, where you draw a sprite and keep making it tinier and tinier while retaining its details and design. Something like that could help you find the size and style youre looking for!
the fact that some painted bats in Thailand naturally come in orange and black Halloween colors makes me so happy you dont understand

what is it about capybaras that attracts groups of small animals to them?
Its not just mammals either its like birds and turtles and frogs too
capybaras are friend shaped
I love this post
This is actually a cool thing I know about!
In the wild capybaras live in large groups so naturally a female capybara will take care of not only her own offspring, but all of the other offspring in the group. So capybaras are super great mothers who will adopt pretty much anything and take care of it.
Lots of places that rescue different animals will give a group of baby animals to a capybara to raise if they have one.
Like puppies

Ducks

Deer

Emus

They are just super calm animals so they’re naturally great at mothering or just existing in a group!

I’m already seeing people complain about about the 2019 Addams Family movie having ugly designs. Guys you do know that original designs where supposed to be kinda ugly?

The whole point of The Addams Family is they go against societies expectations, they’re not going to care what people say is supposed to be cute or attractive. They’re happy as they are, and they’re considered weird for not caring what people think how they look. THAT WAS THE POINT OF THE COMICS.

Sure they’re even more exaggerated towards looking gruesome now, but I think that’s kind of needed to drive in the point.
I know in the fandom Gomez and Mortica are mostly seen as a hot attractive goth couple nowadays, which is probably why so many people are disappointed. But I for one would really love to see a married couple who don’t live up to the impossible standards of hollywood beauty, be madly in love with each other and aren’t shy about expressing it.
